Evacuation Alert issued for properties near 150 Mile House

WILLIAMS LAKE – 29 properties in the Borland Creek area near 150 Mile House, have been placed under an Evacuation Alert. The measure was put in place Wednesday afternoon by the Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre. High water is the concern.
An Evacuation Alert is meant to warn residents to prepare for a possible evacuation in the future. Preparations should include the development of a plan for accommodations if you are forced out and the development of a kit that includes medications, valuable papers and keepsakes. Residents should also move their pets and livestock to a safe location.
Emergency officials say affected residents will be given as much notice as possible if the Alert is increased to an Evacuation Order. However, it warns residents may face a very limited amount of time to escape to safety.
Affected residents are asked to monitor the CRD Emergency Operations Centre facebook page for updates.
