Y Dream Home tickets sell out quickly despite website hiccups

KAMLOOPS — Tickets for the 2020 Y Dream Home sold out over the weekend, and 50/50 tickets are expected to do the same soon.

This year, due to COVID-19, ticket sales for both the Dream Home and the 50/50 were completely online.

Lottery Spokesman Bryce Herman said Y Dream Home tickets sold out Sunday morning, which was a record based on the number of tickets sold.

However, he thought tickets would have sold out even faster had there not been a few issues with the website.

“We know it would have sold earlier than this particular time,” Herman said, “but there was some technical issues with the website, which of course you load test it, you do all the right things and you hope that everything is going to hold. But, there were some communication issues between the financial institution and the processing company.”

As of Monday morning the 50/50 was 86 per cent sold out.

The value pack of 20 tickets for $100 is sold out.

“Now it’s eight for $50, three for $25 and single tickets at $10 and some of the other value packs are starting to get a little bit sparse as well,” Herman said, “so if people are thinking about getting in there, I would suggest don’t think about it, get online and do it.”
