BC CDC reports two new COVID-19 deaths; cases rise by 14

VICTORIA — The B.C. Centre for Disease Control is reporting two additional COVID-19 deaths in the province in the past 24 hours.

According to today’s numbers — which were updated on the BCCDC website instead of delivered in a news conference — there are at least 14 new cases across the province.

That includes three new cases in Interior Health, bringing the total number of cases to 149. However, 91 people in the region have recovered from the virus, or 61 per cent.

The Interior Health region saw its first COVID-19 death yesterday (Apr. 16).

Across the province, there are currently 120 people hospitalized, with 56 of those patients in critical care.

The two new deaths today bring the provincial total to 77.

So far, 983 people in the province have recovered from the virus.
