Self-isolation road trips could be hampered by winter weather: Environment Canada

Mar 27, 2020 | 3:40 PM

MERRITT, B.C. — Fewer people are travelling than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but even so, Environment Canada has a warning for motorists this weekend.

The forecaster says winter driving conditions will return to the Coquihalla Highway between Merritt and Hope, as well as the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Peachland.

Environment Canada says heavy snow will hit the high mountain passes beginning Friday evening (March 27).

The Hope-to-Merritt stretch of the Coquihalla could receive 30 to 40 centimetres before the weekend is over.
