Wildfire near Lytton now under control

Mar 24, 2020 | 1:25 PM

LYTTON, B.C. — Wildfire crews have gotten a handle on a fire burning north of Lytton.

BC Wildfire Service information officer Taylor MacDonald says after more accurate mapping, the Alkaki Road fire is now estimated to be roughly 66 hectares — compared to Monday’s estimate of 150 hectares.

“We are continuing to respond to that one today and we have five personnel that are continuing to work on-site, and it has been responding well to suppression efforts and is now classified as under control, which means it will ensure… no further spread beyond the existing boundaries,” MacDonald says.

The fire is not threatening any structures.
