KAMLOOPS — Leaders in the local business community are coming together in a time of uncertainty.

Tourism Kamloops says in a news release that Kamloops business community leaders agreed this afternoon (March 16) to work together to produce a streamlined communications and engagement strategy to address COVID-19 and the effects on businesses in the city.

The group is comprised of leaders representing the Kamloops Chamber, the City of Kamloops, Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, North Shore Business Improvement Association, Venture Kamloops, Community Futures — Thompson Country, Kamloops Airport and Tourism Kamloops.

Tourism Kamloops says the goal is to ensure business stakeholders receive relevant and timely information, and are provided important and necessary tools during this crisis.

“This group is committed to delivering facts from credible sources, preparing tools for resilience and recovery and providing resources for business continuity,” the release states. “The Kamloops business community is strong and has proven buoyant in critical times. An integrated approach allows for efficient and effective communications to businesses and confirms alignment among the organizations.

“This group will be meeting twice weekly to prepare insights and information. Unified communications will be shared through independent stakeholder lists, each organization’s websites and social channels as appropriate.”

In the coming days, information will be provided through social media using #YKAStrong.
