KAMLOOPS — A suspected drunk driver crashed into his own home on the North Shore Wednesday night (Mar. 11).

According to Kamloops RCMP, the incident happened at about 5:45 p.m. at a home in the 200-block of Evans Avenue.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says responding officers found a car had driven across a lawn and struck a house, causing minor damage.

“The driver was a resident at the house and there was one person also inside of the house at the time of the crash,” said Shelkie. “Luckily, neither were injured.”

Shelkie says the driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle, which had moderate damage after the crash, was impounded.

“We just want to remind people, if you’re going to be drinking, have a plan to get yourself home safely after drinking,” added Shelkie. “Consider taking a cab or calling a friend for a ride. So many things can happen if you’ve been drinking and your judgment is impaired.”
