KAMLOOPS — RCMP had to use the police dog to bring a suspect into custody this morning.

Staff Sergeant Mat. Van Laer says about 2:00 AM Thursday morning, police flooded the area of the 800 block of Shuswap Road to locate a dangerous driver driving a vehicle with stolen plates. Police had earlier tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver escaped. Van Laer says the driver was driving dangerously at the time.

Police located the vehicle on Shuswap Road, and this time, the suspect tried to escape by driving through rural pasture properties towards the river. When his vehicle became stuck, he fled on foot.

The police dog was brought in and tracked the suspect to a spot a few hundred meters away, where he was hiding up a tree. The man was arrested without incident.
