Fire damages abandoned building in Mission Flats

KAMLOOPS — Fire badly damaged an abandoned building on Mission Flats Road that was apparently scheduled for demolition later this spring.
Fire Captain Mike Haines says they got the call about 10:30 PM Tuesday evening. The fire apparently had a fairly decent hold when crews arrived. Haines says the blaze was put out fairly quickly but the building suffered significant damage.
Haines says the fire appears to have started on the outside of the building, and investigators will have a closer look later this morning.
The building was across the road from the old City public works yard. The building had been used previously as part of a tannery.
