Blazers hit bump in the road with 5th straight loss

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers have hit a bump in the road —– going 0-for-3 on the weekend to run their losing streak to five in a row.

Following back-to-back one goal defeats at Victoria, they were blown away in the third period last night in Langley, giving up five goals in a 7-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants.

A four goal loss is their largest of the season.

Logan Stankoven scored his 18th of the season to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead after the first.

Vancouver scored goals a minute and 40 seconds apart late in the second by Cole Shepard and Tristan Nielsen to take the lead.

Before the second was over Orrin Centazzo scored on the power play, his 36th of the season to tie it.

Once again the Giants took a lead seven minutes into the third on Eric Florchuk’s power play goal.

And once again the Blazers tied it midway through the the third on the 19th of the season for Ryan Hughes.

Then the roof caved in on the visitors with the Giants scored four times in the final 6 minutes and 5 seconds for a 7-3 win.

Vancouver’s sixth goal was into an empty net.

Rayce Ramsay stopped 25 of 31 in the Blazers net while David Tendeck was good on 34 of 37 for the Giants.

Vancouver was 3-for-6 on the power play, the Blazers went 1-for-4.

The Blazers return home for three games next weekend —– against Red Deer on Friday and then back-to-back against Victoria Saturday and a 2pm matinee on the Family Day holiday Monday.
