Short standoff at Merritt motel ends with suspect in handcuffs

MERRITT, B.C. — A Merritt man was arrested Tuesday (Feb. 4) after a brief standoff at a local motel.
Merritt RCMP say in a news release that they received a call Tuesday that a man with several outstanding warrants may be in possession of a gun.
Police traced the man to a motel in the 2600-block of Nicola Avenue.
After clearing out occupants of the other rooms, officers called the suspect out of his room. After about 45 minutes, the man left his room and was arrested.
