KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old man after a substantial amount of illicit drugs were found in his vehicle.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the evening of January 25 around 9:00 p.m, an officer in the Crime Reduction Unit saw a vehicle driving along the frontage road in Valleyview, with a woman trying to get out of the moving vehicle.

“He immediately pulled the vehicle over, and when the driver exited the vehicle, the officer saw a container with what appeared to be illegal drugs sticking out of the man’s pocket.”

With that, Shelkie says the man was immediately arrested. While searching him and his vehicle, police found a knife, bear spray left in plain sight, drug paraphernalia, a stolen laptop, and about 303 grams of illicit drugs believed to be fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.

“So now, all investigation material has been forwarded to the Federal Prosecution Service, who will determine what, and if charges will be laid.”

RCMP say that the drugs have also been sent for analysis.
