IH says drug being sold in Kamloops as crystal meth actually contains fentanyl

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has issued an alert for drug users in Kamloops.

According to an alert dated Jan. 22, IH is aware of two drug samples that were sold in Kamloops as crystal meth, but in fact tested positive for fentanyl.

The drugs in question are white crystals with purple flecks in them.

IH advises users to avoid mixing drugs together or with other substances, and to avoid using drugs alone. The health authority also reminds drug users to carry a Naloxone kit or use at one of Kamloops’ two supervised consumption sites.

The alert is in effect for one week, ending Jan. 29.
