WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — RCMP in Williams Lake says they have made an extra effort to crack down on property crime offenders over the past couple of months, and it’s paying off.

According to a news release from Const. Joel Kooger of Williams Lake RCMP, the detachment has had its eye on 15 “known offenders” since the beginning of December, 2019.

Of 57 charges recommended or approved by Crown counsel in that time, Kooger says 48 were a direct result of the renewed focus on known offenders.

The charges include:

  • Cody Jerome charged with breach after an arrest on December 7.
  • Nicholas Ivany and James Nelson facing three charges after being found in a stolen vehicle December 9.
  • A suspect arrested for several charged after a theft from vehicle on December 10.
  • Donovan Boyd charged with failing to comply after a curfew check on December 14.
  • A man was charged with obstruction after three men were found on the railway tracks on December 18.
  • Derrick O’Connor was arrested and charged after officers found a stolen vehicle and weapons on a local property December 21.
  • Derrick O’Connor was re-arrested and charged after a traffic stop found him behind the wheel, allegedly breaching conditions on December 28.

RCMP remind the public to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods and vehicle owners to remove valuables from their vehicles.
