Blazers with another huge victory over Tri-City

KAMLOOPS — After beating Tri-City 12-3 on Friday night, the Kamloops Blazers followed up with a 9-0 shellacking of the Americans at the Sandman Centre on Saturday.

Connor Zary, Orrin Centazzo, and Ryan Hughes each had a pair of goals, while Quinn Schmiemann and Reese Belton added singles to the scoresheet.

Josh Pillar and Brodi Stuart each had three assist nights for the Blazers, while Sean Strange, Max Martin, and Zane Franklin all had two helpers apiece.

Rayce Ramsay stopped all 24 shots he faced, picking up his third shutout of the season in his first back-to-back starts of the year.

Americans goalie Mason Dunsford played all 60 minutes in his second consecutive start, stopping 41 of 50 shots he faced.

The Americans other goaltender Talyn Boyko was injured in the second period of Friday night’s game against the Blazers, so the Americans called up 16-year-old Kamloops goalie Evan Pascoe as an emergency backup.

The victory extends the Blazers’ winning streak to seven in a row in 2020. Kamloops is now in second place in the WHL’s Western Conference standings, two points ahead of the Everett Silvertips but still eight points behind the Portland Winterhawks.

The Blazers travel to Langley on Sunday for a matinee meeting with the Giants.
