UPDATE: Traffic flowing again on Okanagan Connector after early morning closure

MERRITT, B.C. — The Okanagan Connector has re-opened to single lane traffic this hour – after it was closed all morning due to a vehicle fire involving dangerous goods.
According to a news release from Merritt RCMP, the route was closed from Merritt to the junction with Highway 5A at 1:00 this morning.
That’s when police received a report that a commercial transport truck was ablaze east of the Aspen Grove junction.
Staff Sergeant Lorne Wood says it was determined the contents of the trailer were “extremely volatile”, and that prompted emergency officials to close the highway so an assessment could be made.
