Safe outcome for broken-down snowmobiler in Sun Peaks area
SUN PEAKS — Some preparation steps taken by a snowmobiler led to a safe outcome during what could have been a harmful, or deadly situation in the Sun Peaks area last night (Dec. 20).
In a release, Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Ed Preto says Kamloops Rural RCMP were called to the Sun Peaks area around 5:20 pm for a snowmobiler who’d had a mechanical break down.
Heavy snow was coming down in the area, but the sledder was found around 11:30 pm in good condition.
RCMP say the sledder was prepared for the scenario with proper clothing and equipment, including GPS, a cell phone, and extra batteries – all of which helped to avoid a disastrous result.
