Statement upgraded to winter storm warning for Coquihalla Highway

MERRITT, B.C. — Hazardous winter conditions are expected on the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt.

Environment Canada says an approaching system will hang over the Southern Interior Thursday night (Dec. 19).

The special weather statement that was issued for area highways Wednesday has been upgraded to a winter storm warning for some areas.

Heavy snow will begin this evening and continue through Friday, with amounts of 30 to 60 centimetres expected by tomorrow afternoon.
