KAMLOOPS — The Colombo Lodge is hosting its fourth Colombo Cares – Take Home Dinner today (Dec. 18), with proceeds going to support the Kamloops BC SPCA.

Large portions of pasta and sausage have been prepared. People will purchase these meals for around $25.

A portion of that cost will go to support the Kamloops SPCA.

“It will go right to the Kamloops SPCA and usually when we have events like this where money is coming in, that will go to the greatest need,” said Community Engagement Manager Hayley Bennett. “Often those things are like medical funding, so animals coming in with complicated medical cases where we don’t have enough of a medical budget to cover all of those procedures or costs, so that will really help. It will go towards the running of the shelter, which is very important and that’s the only way we can keep it going to keep animals coming in.”

The Colombo Lodge hosts these meals in support of non-profit organizations on the third Wednesday of every month.

While people pre-order their meals, walk-ins are permitted from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m.

The Lodge is expecting to hand out more than 230 orders and is pleased with the success of the fundraiser so far.

“Thank you for all of the support we have received from the Kamloops community,” said Colombo Lodge member Joe Stella. “That’s why we’re here, the Colombo Lodge, the community supports us and we want to give something back.”
