1931 – 2016
Giuseppina Chiatto of Kamloops, passed away on July 27, 2016 at 84 years of age. She is survived by her children, Nina (Doug) Sanford of Mill Bay, Rosie (Steven) Jonasson of Kamloops, Lu (Jimmy) Lazaruk of Loganlake, Roberto (Kelly) Chiatto of Burnaby, and Maria (Glen) Jarvis of Tsawwassen. Grand children, Chad Jonasson, Samantha Jonasson, Natalie Jonasson, Katie Lazaruk, Sabrina Chiatto, Austin Chiatto, Gabriel Chiatto and Finn Jarvis. Brothers and sisters, Tony Palermo, Frank Palermo, Lola Barone, Wanda McCaffery and Louis Palermo, and many nieces and nephews.
Pina was born in Lago, Italy on August 18, 1932 to her parents, Florinda and Angela Palermo, and was the eldest of seven children. They immigrated to Canada in 1962 and settled in Kamloops, where she raised her five children.
She was a seamstress who loved sewing, cooking and all her children and grand children. Pina made amazing pasta and meatballs and passed on her love of cooking to all of her family. She was loved by everyone who met her and was an extraordinary person in a simple, quiet way. Her smile was contagious, and she had a strong faith. Pina was a generous, caring person who always fed everyone.

Prayers will be recited on Monday, August 1, 2016 in the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father Andrew L’Heureux officiating.
