It is with profound sadness and relief that we announce the passing of our mother Joan Dorie. She endured a very long while, her journey was long and she now deserves to rest in peace. Joan was born and raised in Kelowna. She came to school of nursing in Kamloops, graduated in 1947 and here she stayed to marry and raise her family. She was most comfortable behind the scene and was there to lend a hand always. She volunteered at the RIH auxiliary gift shop and Well baby clinic for many years. Joan had many challenges to be met and she worked tirelessly to meet same. She will be missed . She was predeceased by her parents Al Biggs and Jessie Biggs Pedersen (nee Hall) and infant brother, her husband Terry, her eldest daughter Eileen Camille and her infant son Allen James.
She is survived by her daughters June Dorie, Patricia Kingsnorth (Ed), Darlene Iadarola (Oz), Katherine Dorie and her son Tom (Phillis) Dorie as well as ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. We honor her request of no service. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a charity of your choice. We wish to thank the many kindnesses and loving care extended to our mom by the staff on 2B at the Kamloops Senior Village.
