Waslenchuk, Ross E.

Posted Aug 29, 2016 | 3:00 PM

On August 6, 2016 the world lost a great man in Ross and many tears were shed by friends and family that were a part of his life over the years. Ross was a Dad, uncle, brother, and husband. Ross was a teacher, a coach, and a friend. Ross was a role model to many over the years. Lessons and skills that Ross taught those around him will carry on throughout the generations of many families in the Kamloops area as well as the Lower Mainland of BC where Ross spent many years.

Ross was a hero and a mentor to his two daughters, Tracy Adele Waslenchuk and Nicole Elizabeth Waslenchuk (Watt), both of Langley, BC. Ross taught them to be themselves, to love music of every genre, and to try everything at least once. Ross taught them to be more than anyone thought they could be and to keep striving to be better. Ross inspired their thirst for knowledge and literature. Ross taught them to look at life in a way that was always positive and if it wasn’t to make it so.

Tracy and Nicole will always remember the camping trips and time spent with Ross at home as they grew up fondly. Summers spent in Chase, BC on both Little and Big Shuswap Lakes, as well as Christina Lake, BC will always remain close to their hearts and fresh in their minds. His smile and laugh were both infectious and comforting and could be heard by all around him. Every story he told had a message behind it.

Ross touched many lives on the Lower Mainland of BC and was considered a friend and family by many. Music was one of his favourite things. Some of his daughters’ earliest and fondest memories revolve around rainy afternoons spent watching movies together and making mixed tapes in the basement. Ross still inspires their daily lives and always will.

The moments they shared and knowledge gained with their father helped shape them into the women they are today and have been shared with Nicole’s children Mackenzie Charles Watt, Maddison Ransom Phillip Watt, and Connor Frances Watt and hopefully to their children as well.

Ross will always be remembered, loved, and respected by those who were fortunate enough to have him touch their lives throughout time.

“There’s so many different worlds, so many different suns, and we have just one world, but we live in different ones.” – Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms
