1952 – 2017
Michael Andrew Townsend, 64, passed away on February 24th with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Denise, daughters Ashley (David) Gore, Jamie Cleveland and his most loved grandson Jax. Mike is also survived by his Uncle Wilf Dobbin, brother Bruce (Jacky) Townsend; nephews Jason Simes and Peter (Lindsey) Townsend; and niece Krista (Andre) Girardin.
Mike was born in Chatham, New Brunswick on September 19, 1952. Mike was a high school teacher and spent most of his teaching career in Kamloops teaching computer science at Sahali Secondary. Mike’s greatest passions were riding his Harley, traveling the world and writing. In the spring of 2015 Mike fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a published author with the release of his first novel, “No Bridge Left Unburned”.
Mike will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A private Celebration of Life for Mike will take place at a later date. A special thanks to Dr. Sven Kip and the wonderful staff and volunteers at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice. We will be forever grateful for all the care and support they’ve provided.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to Kamloops Hospice Association in memory of Mike.
