May 5, 1926 – March 16, 2018

STRAKA, Nelda Frances – Born May 5, 1926 in Graz, Austria, died March 16, 2018 in Kamloops, BC, in her 91st year, active to the end. Nelda immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her husband, Manfred. Living primarily in Toronto, in their retirement years also in Oliva, Spain. In 2016 they moved to Kamloops, BC.

Nelda was well known for her keen zest for life, fierce independence, and passionate love of music. She loved to plan trips and traveled extensively through Europe with Manfred, trips they continued well into their 80’s. Her strength and resilience in recent years was an inspiration to many.

Lovingly remembered by her husband Manfred, daughters Silvia (Mary), Claudia (Bill) and Isabel (Greg) and grandchildren Matthew (Erin), Alison, Samantha, Timothy and Cameron as well as her nieces and nephews in Europe.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the First Memorial Funeral Home, 177 Tranquille Road in Kamloops, from 2-5pm (visitation from 2pm, ceremony at 3pm).
