Kamloops RCMP identify body found in North Shore alley

KAMLOOPS — RCMP have now released more information surrounding the discovery of human remains in Kamloops yesterday (Nov. 29).

In a release, Kamloops RCMP Plainclothes Commander Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay says police have now identified the deceased individual as 66-year-old, David Melvin Boltwood.

Boltwood was of no fixed address in Kamloops, and was frequently seen in areas on the North Shore- often in a wheelchair. His last contact with RCMP in Kamloops was in the afternoon of Monday, November 4 this year.

Pillay says evidence showed that Boltwood’s body was left wrapped in a rug near dumpsters in the alley behind 170 Carson Crescent on Sunday evening (Nov. 24), however the body was not discovered until Friday (Nov. 29).

“Our investigation is advancing in that Mr. Boltwood has been identified however we still need the public’s assistance. We do not know where Mr. Boltwood has been staying and investigators are interested in confirming a time line of his whereabouts. If you know where David Boltwood was staying between November 4th and November 29th, please contact the RCMP.” stated Pillay, who went on to say,

“It is too early to confirm if Mr. Boltwood died as a result of a criminal act. However, it is clearly a crime to dispose of human remains in this manner. To those involved in moving David Boltwood to this location, I urge you to come forward to investigators.”
