KAMLOOPS — Unionized support staff working in the Kamloops-Thompson School District have ratified a new three-year contract with the district.

According to a district news release, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3500 voted 85 per cent in favour of the new deal last Saturday (Nov. 16).

The three-year term retroactively began on July 1, 2019 and contains two per cent wage increases each year. It was negotiated under the provincial government’s Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate.

“Negotiations between CUPE 3500 and SD73 were carried out in a respectful manner,” Kamloops-Thompson Superintendent Alison Sidow said.
