Council considers PAC referendum question Tuesday

KAMLOOPS — It looks like it will be early spring when Kamloops voters go to the polls to vote on a new Performing Arts Centre for the City.

Council will consider the issue tomorrow at their regular meeting.

Staff has suggested the wording of the referendum be as follows: “Are you in favour of the City of Kamloops borrowing up to $45 million to construct a Kamloops Centre for the Arts?”

Staff is also suggesting that the date for the referendum be either March 28th or April 4th, 2020. Both of those are Saturdays.

If the referendum is passed, the City would pay up to $45 million for the project, while private fundraising would take care of the rest of the $70 million dollar cost.
