HUGH GRANT DEFENDS SNUBBING UK CHANCELLOR: Hugh Grant and U.K. politician Sajid Javid are doing battle over a handshake snub at the premiere of Martin Scorsese‘s The Irishman. Javid calls the actor “incredibly rude” and claims Grant is part of an “elite” who “look down on working class people no matter what station they reach in life”. Grant hit back on Twitter, publishing a series of quotes via his spokesperson. “Grant had a different version of events. When offered a handshake, Grant’s words were – ‘If you don’t mind, I won’t shake your hand because you were rude and dismissive to the victims or press abuse when you met them as culture secretary [a position he held between 2014 and 2015].’ Hugh would like to point out that the victims in question were not celebrities. They were people with personal family tragedies who had been abused by sections of the press. He said Grant was referring to a meeting between Mr Javid and ‘the victims of press abuse… (who) reported back that his attitude in the meeting was ‘borderline contemptuous’.”

CBS TO RECREATE JAMES CORDEN GAME SHOW: CBS is set to remake James Corden‘s Sky gameshow, A League of Their Own. CBS already has had huge success with Corden’s The Late Late Show, and while Corden will not likely appear in the gameshow, his fingerprint will be present. TBD when this will land.

MIMI LEDER ON HOW TO FILM JENNIFER ANISTON: Director-producer Mimi Leder chatted with The Hollywood Reporter about her time working in TV before it was cool, and how she makes her sometimes surprising creative decisions. Now, she is in running The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. She says one of the takeaways from filming Aniston was, more is better: “I wanted to hold shots longer than normal – like Jen staring in the mirror during the first episode. Normally you’d cut sooner, and they asked me to, but I found her fascinating.” The Morning Show launches on Apple+ next month.

FIRST LOOK AT TONI COLLETTE AND DAMIAN LEWIS: Dream Horse has released its first image of Toni Collette and Damian Lewis, Euros Lyns‘ story of a bartender (Colette) who recruits her husband and a local accountant to help her bring together a group of local people to breed a foal named Dream Alliance. The film is being released in the U.S. by Bleecker Street.
