RON ELY’S SON UNARMED WHEN SHOT: Ron Ely‘s son was reportedly unarmed when he was fatally shot by police earlier this month. Authorities responded to a 911 call to the Tarzan star’s home October 15th, where they found his wife Valerie dead. She had been stabbed multiple times. Cameron Ely, Ron’s son, was identified as a suspect. ET reports that Cameron told police he was armed, but no gun was present. Police fired at him 24 times. (ET)
ALEX TREBEK RELEASES PSA: Alex Trebek, 79, has launched a new PSA to help raise pancreatic cancer awareness. The Jeopardy! host was diagnosed last March. “I wished I had known sooner that the persistent stomach pain I experienced before my diagnosis was a symptom of pancreatic cancer,” Trebek says in the announcement, adding that other common symptoms include “mid-back pain, unexplained weight loss and the yellowing of the skin or eyes.” The cancer has one of the lowest survival rates because few people know the risks and are diagnosed as an advanced stage of the disease. SHIA LABEOUF TALKS DARK DAYS: Shia LaBeouf has made headlines many times for public outbursts, but he has rarely discussed the cause. He tells The Hollywood Reporter’s Award Chatter podcast that he started acting as a kid because he always felt that if he “had more money, there’d be no fighting” between his parents. After struggling with early fame and alcohol addiction, he realized he had PTSD. He reveals, “It was the first time I’d been told I had PSTD. I just thought I was an alcoholic, like a true blue drunk and I needed to deal with that. I knew it was an issue but didn’t know there was this extra whole other thing that was hindering my ability to have any peace in my life and my ability to deal with people.” (E!)
GALA SELLING $1K PROMISES KEANU REEVES: A Hollywood charity event used Keanu Reeves as bait for its $1K a seat event, claiming he would be present and be honored, but Page Six reports that the Matrix star didn’t even know it was happening. Global Charity Initiative promoted the event on social media, writing: “Join some Hollywood finest actors like Chadwick Bosman [sic] and Keanu humble and lover humanity supporting GCI to eradicate poverty.” Reeves’ rep told Page Six, “He knew nothing about the event and has no affiliation with this organization whatsoever. And they used his image without permission.” (Page Six)
