KAMLOOPS — Former Kamloops Blazers forward Robin Bawa will be in the 2020 class of athletes being inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall ofFame.

Bawa played five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Junior Oilers, New Westminster Bruins and Blazers, ending his junior career in 1987.

Fifty-three year old Bawa will be going into the Hall of Fame as a pioneer — the first South Asian to play in the NHL when he suited up with the Washington Capitals in the 1989-90 season.

Bawa would play a total of 61 NHL games with four different teams during a 12-year pro career, including two games with the Vancouver Canucks in the 1991-92 season.
