City of Kamloops to host first-ever pumpkin smash

KAMLOOPS — Disposing of your frightening jack-o-lanterns can be a ghoulish proposal any year, but this year, the City of Kamloops has your back.

The City has organized its first-ever pumpkin smash event, planned for this Saturday (Nov. 2).

According to a news release, “Participants will be able to drop, smash, and roll their jack-o’-lanterns during this free, family-friendly event.”

In addition, local residents can bring their largest pumpkins and watch them get dropped onto the concrete below from the City’s bucket truck. And Kamloops Fire Rescue will

The event is meant to promote composting. The City will also be taking donations for the Kamloops Food Bank.

The Pumpkin Smash will take place Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the parking lot for soccer fields 1 and 2 on McArthur Island.
