Temperatures expected to drop in Kamloops this week

KAMLOOPS — It looks as though the sun won’t help the temperatures stay warm in Kamloops this week.

While mostly clear skies will bring plenty of sunshine, Environment Canada Meteorologist Ross McDonald says the temperatures are going to drop down below normal.

“Monday, there will be a bit of a cold front actually moving in from Alberta pushing in from east to west,” McDonald explains, “And that’ll move through Kamloops during the day on Monday. No real precipitation coming in with this front, but it’s more of just a cool down in temperatures that you’ll likely experience from the weekend into what will be a little bit of a chiller Tuesday and Wednesday.”

McDonald says the transition will also bring some blustery winds to the Kamloops area.

“We might see a little bit of frost here and there for sure,” he says, “Overnight lows as the front goes by, we’ll see those dip down on Monday night to about minus 7. So it’ll be very chilly as we wake up Tuesday morning.”

The high for Tuesday will be around plus 2, and McDonald says that’s about 8 degrees cooler than the usual highs seen in late October. Despite the colder temperatures, McDonald says the lack of precipitation could mean a dry Halloween night for any trick or treaters.

“On Thursday on Halloween, conditions look dry, and Thursday looks mainly sunny- reaching a high of plus 5,” he notes, “As the trick or treaters head out perhaps on Thursday evening the temperatures will be just a little bit above zero. So certainly bundle up, but it does look dry with fair weather for them.”
