KAMLOOPS — A man has been arrested after he was discovered in a stolen pickup truck.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that officers received a report on Oct. 18 that a Chevrolet pick-up truck had been stolen on the North Shore.

The truck owner tracked his vehicle using the app “My Chevrolet”. The owner gave the location to the police who surveilled the area for 15 minutes when they saw a man walk toward the stolen vehicle and then get into it.

Officers then arrested the suspect.

“Technology definitely helped the officers locate the stolen vehicle,” said Shelkie. “The owner was of great assistance by giving the police the GPS coordinates and then letting the officers apprehend the suspect. The vehicle was recovered intact with no damage.”

The 24-year-old Kamloops man has been taken into custody on a previous outstanding warrant.
