Lizzo Plagiarism Addressed

Lizzo has addressed plagiarism claims surrounding her record, “Truth Hurts.” According to Rap-Up, Lizzo has denied claims that she stole the “100% that b*tch” verse and has given songwriting credit to Mina Lioness, whose 2017 tweet inspired the line and became a popular meme.

Songwriter and producer brothers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen claimed that Lizzo was present for a writing session when they wrote a record called “Healthy” in 2017. The line from the song goes, “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that b*tch.” Justin said, “We’ve tried to sort this out quietly for the last two years, only asking for 5% each but were shutdown every time.”

Lizzo has since responded to the claims, writing on social media that the brothers had nothing to do with “Truth Hurts.” She said, “The men who now claim a piece of Truth Hurts did not help me write any part of the song. They had nothing to do with the line or how I chose to sing it. There was no one in the room when I wrote Truth Hurts, except me, Ricky Reed, and my tears. That song is my life, and its words are my truth.”

She added, “The creator of the tweet is the person I am sharing my success with…not these men. Period.”
