SALMON ARM, B.C. — A downtown Salmon Arm bank was robbed at gunpoint, and police are searching for the suspect.

In a news release, Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West says shortly after 4:10 p.m. Oct. 21, police responded to a report of a robbery at a downtown financial institution on Ross Street in Salmon Arm.

The suspect wore a balaclava and allegedly pointed a grey handgun at the clerk while demanding cash.

The suspect is described as a tall man with a skinny build, dressed all in black, and wore a balaclava and sunglasses.

The black track pants he wore had two white stripes running the length of the legs.

It’s believed the man fled eastbound.

“Despite extensive police patrols, the suspect was not located,” police say. “The RCMP investigation continues as investigators examine video from the scene as well as other downtown Salmon Arm locations.”

Police are asking anyone with information, pictures or videos to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at (250) 832-6044 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
