Highway 1 closed in both directions after serious crash east of Cache Creek

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — Emergency crews are on scene east of Cache Creek this afternoon after a serious crash.

Cpl. Mike Halskov of BC RCMP says Clinton RCMP and Ashcroft RCMP responded to Highway 1 east of Cache Creek shortly before 3:00 p.m. today (Oct. 16).

Halskov says it was a two-vehicle head-on collision.

“It looks at this point that it could be a fatal investigation,” Halskov says. “We don’t know what caused the crash at this particular time.”

Halskov says the highway could be closed for several hours, and no other information is available.

BC Emergency Health Services says ambulance responded to the highway at roughly 2:50 p.m.

Two ground ambulances were dispatched along with an air ambulance.

One patient is being taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

There’s no word on how many other patients were involved.
