Oct 12, 2019 | 10:05 AM

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: Kamloops RCMP are working to peacefully resolve an incident involving a distraught man this morning.

BC RCMP E Division’s Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says police were called to the residence in the 700-block of McGill Road just after 10 p.m. last night (Oct. 11) for a report of a distraught man.

Shoihet says the man has barricaded himself inside the residence, and negotiations between the resident and RCMP Crisis Negotiators are still ongoing this morning (Oct. 12).

No other residences have been impacted, and police ask that the public avoid the area while they continue working on a peaceful resolution with the individual involved.

PREVIOUS: A heavy RCMP presence has been on scene near the Upper College Heights buildings in Kamloops for several hours.

Witnesses say police were allegedly in the area since late last night (Oct. 11), and a CFJC Today crew on scene says over a dozen RCMP vehicles have responded as of this morning (Oct. 12).

It’s not known what the incident officers are responding to is, or what it’s related to.
