Officer shot and injured after standoff in the Kootenays
ARGENTA, B.C. — A police officer has been shot and a man has been arrested after a tense standoff near Kaslo today.
In a news release, BC RCMP says the incident started yesterday evening (Oct. 10) near Argenta and was resolved this afternoon.
“Following lengthy and exhaustive negotiations between RCMP Crisis Negotiators and a barricaded 28-year-old man, the man exited the residence and was arrested without further incident,” the release states. “Now that the incident has ended, the RCMP can confirm that a BC RCMP officer suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after being shot during the incident.”
Officers attended the suspect’s location with arrest warrants, but the man barricaded himself in a cabin and allegedly fired shots.
