Women’s soccer win in Kelowna to stay alive, men on brink of elimination with draw
KAMLOOPS — With both soccer teams clinging to their thin playoff hopes, they were in Kelowna on Thursday night, needing wins to keep their season alive.
The WolfPack women scored their second win of the year with a 2-0 win over UBC-Okanagan and now trail University of the Fraser Valley for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division at 2-6-3.
Emma Terrillion opened the scoring for TRU in the 20th minute off a UBCO turnover. Rylee Mugridge added an insurance marker a few minutes later.
The men, meantime, came home Thursday night with a scoreless draw against the Heat. At 3-5-5, the Wolfpack are now eight points behind UBC Okanagan for the fourth and final playoff spot. TRU would need to win out and get some help to make the playoffs.
