ALESSIA CARA DROPS NEW VIDEO FOR ‘ROOTING FOR YOU’: Alessia Cara has released a video for “Rooting for You,” which features Alessia singing and three cheerleaders doing a routine, cut with footage of people experiencing various “relatable disappointments.” Among them: “when your hair has other plans,” “when the kiss does not have sparks,” “when everything is broken,” “when he shows up an hour late,” “when you realize you made a huge mistake” – depicted as waking up next to a less-than-desirable guy – and “when you ‘don’t need’ the recipe,” which results in burned cookies. “Rooting for You” is from Alessia’s new EP, This Summer. John Mayer was such a fan of the track when it was released that he posted it on his Instagram Story and wrote, “Meanwhile, I only wish I had written this. Now that’s what I call a hook.”

BEBE REXHA RELEASES NEW SONG FROM DISNEY’S ‘MALEFICENT’ SEQUEL: Bebe Rexha has released a new track from the upcoming film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the sequel to the 2014 movie starring Angelina Jolie as the title character. The song is called “You Can’t Stop the Girl,” and it’ll get a video from famed director Sophie Muller in the next few weeks. Bebe co-wrote “You Can’t Stop the Girl,” and she tweeted, “I hope this song gives a little extra courage to any girl that needs it.” Bebe’s currently opening for the Jonas Brothers on their Happiness Begins tour, which wraps up in December in Los Angeles. On September 27th, she’ll perform at the Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil hits theaters October 18th.

MILEY CYRUS, KAITLYNN CARTER END ROMANCE, REMAIN FRIENDS: Miley Cyrus and reality TV personality Kaitlynn Carter have reportedly ended their brief romance. “Miley and Kaitlyn broke up,” People quoted an unnamed source as saying. “They’re still friends.” “They’ve been friends forever and were there for each other when they were both getting separated, but they’re just not in a romantic relationship anymore.” E! News also reported the split but said the reason they stopped dating isn’t clear. News of the breakup came as Cyrus, 26, went to Las Vegas for the weekend with her mom, Tish, and her sister, Brandi. Carter, 31, stayed at home in Los Angeles. Cyrus announced in August that she had separated from her husband, Liam Hemsworth, after less than a year of marriage. Carter and Brody Jenner also ended their six-year romance last month.
