PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — A man is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into a senior’s home — assaulting her in the process.

Prince George RCMP say the man entered the patio door of an apartment downtown at roughly 3:00 a.m. this morning (Sept. 12).

A 74-year-old woman was asleep in her bed. The suspect allegedly forced his way through the apartment, assaulting the woman in the process.

The suspect is accused of taking several items and some cash.

Prince George RCMP, including the Police Dog Service, immediately responded and the suspect was located a short distance away.

Phillip Christopher Wood, 37, is from Prince George and is facing charges including breaking and entering to commit robbery, robbery, and assault causing bodily harm.

“This is an especially despicable crime,” says Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. “To forcibly invade the privacy of someone’s home is absolutely horrible. To assault the 74-year-old resident is a whole other level of disgusting.”
