KAMLOOPS — The spirit of Christmas was in the air on Sunday, as the 16th annual Kiwanis Club Motorcycle Toy Run hit the roads across Kamloops.

While the weather wasn’t super cooperative, many motorcyclists still came out to support the effort.

Kiwanis Club Kamloops president Peter Mutrie says helping kids is the number one mandate of his organization.

The Toy Run provides funds and toys for Christmas Amalgamated, which in turn offers gifts and meals for around 2,000 families in the community over the holidays.

“For us to work with community partners like Bikers Against Bullies and Bikers Against Child Abuse, just the [motorcycle] community in general — good-hearted people — they bring a lot of resources in through this program that we can then channel to Christmas Amalgamated,” Mutrie told CFJC Today. “Some children would not have a Christmas without the efforts everyone here is contributing. It’s an important thing, and it’s a feel-good for all of us.”
