MERRITT — According to an update from the BC Wildfire Service, the Shovelnose Mountain wildfire about 30 kilometres south of Merritt is now being held.

In a tweet today, the service says the fire is estimated at 15 hectares in size.

Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald says the service has 34 personnel on site today to extinguish hot spots, and aerial support was not called in due to challenging weather conditions.

The service says the rainy weather has been helping with firefighting efforts.
