ENDERBY, B.C. — A birthday party is supposed to be a happy time, but an Enderby resident found their gifts stolen during their 50th birthday celebration over the long weekend.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said the gifts were allegedly taken from the side carport of the home on Kildonan Avenue while the party was still happening inside.

Police believe the gifts were stolen sometime between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Aug. 4.

“It’s a very unfortunate set of circumstances as the gifts were set aside in a carport area to be taken home by the birthday recipient, however an alleged thief thought the items were up for grabs,” RCMP Const. Kelly Brett said.

“It wasn’t until the victim got home and went to retrieve the gifts from the bags, two days later, when she noticed they were missing,” she added.

The victim told police they are shocked and disheartened someone would steal gifts from a birthday party.

Some of the items taken include; women’s clothing, a dog leash, a S’well water bottle and a black and purple backpack with hiking gear inside.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
