Image CKAMLOOPS — According to Environment Canada, the sun will be shining throughout any August long weekend outdoor plans.

Meteorologist Dave Wray says the Kamloops area is in for a ‘beautiful situation’.

“Often we expect some rain and unpleasant weather, but for today, mainly sunny with just a few clouds out there. Looking at a high of 28 degrees,” He says, “Warming up for Sunday, again still that ridge of high pressure. High of 31, and looks like the warmest day will be on Monday with a high of 34 degrees.”

Wray says hot, dry weather is a staple of summertime conditions in the Southern Interior.

“I would say it’s fairly normal for this time of year. In fact, it might be about 4 or 5 degrees above normal,” Wray explains, “Usually we can expect overnight lows of about 14, and daytime highs touching on the 30 degree mark.”

As for the rest of next week after the August long weekend, Wray says things will cool down minimally.

“We’re looking at the ridge holding on pretty strong I would say right through until about Wednesday,” He explains, “Daytime highs coming back down to about 28 or 29.”

He adds, sunscreen, hats, and drinking lots of water during hotter temperatures is never a bad idea.
