40th annual Kamloopa Powwow begins today

KAMLOOPS — Those in the local area are invited to take in one of the largest celebrations of Indigenous culture in Canada this weekend, as the Kamloopa Powwow Society celebrates the 40th annual Kamloopa Powwow.

Grand entry begins tonight (Aug. 2) at 7:00 p.m, and tickets can be bought with cash at the gates.

General admission is $10 a day per person, or $20 for a weekend pass.

Children six years old and under and elders 60 and over are free.

A number of booths selling native arts and crafts will be set up throughout the weekend, alongside hundreds of dancers performing in a variety of categories.
