UPDATE: Ground, air ambulance respond to multi-vehicle crash outside Salmon Arm

SALMON ARM, B.C. — UPDATE: Paramedics have stabilized a patient in critical condition.

BC Emergency Health Services says they received a call just before 8:00 a.m. this morning. Paramedic ground crews and one air ambulance were dispatched, and paramedics were on scene within three minutes.

A patient in critical condition was stabilized by paramedics. They are now being airlifted to hospital.

UPDATE: Westbound lanes are now reopened but there is no estimated time of opening for eastbound lanes.

EARLIER: Highway 1 is closed in both directions in Salmon Arm after a crash this morning.
