Wildfire near Savona now under control

KAMLOOPS — A wildfire which popped up near Savona on Sunday grew to two hectares, but is now under control.

BC Wildfire information officer Taylor MacDonald says the fire is not expected to grow past its boundaries at this point.

Six BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) personnel responded to the blaze yesterday (July 22), and the cause is unknown at this point.

“We are having 10 BCWS personnel respond today,” she says. “It is visible form the highway there.”
