Interior Health Authority has second-highest number, rate of suicide deaths

KAMLOOPS — For another year, Interior Health has had the second-highest number of suicide deaths in the province.

According to new numbers from the BC Coroners Service, IH, along with Fraser Health, made up half of all suicide deaths in 2017.

In Kamloops that year, 16 people died by suicide, up from 11 in 2016 and 15 in 2015.

Men accounted for 75 per cent of suicide deaths in the province in 2017, a trend that has been common over the past decade.
