Weather looks better, but travel advisories still out around Cache Creek
KAMLOOPS — The forecast is better than yesterday, but travel advisories are still out around Cache Creek because of the potential of heavy rains.
A mudslide closed Highway 97 south of Clinton for a time yesterday.
According to Drive BC, the mudslide came down 17 kilometres south of Clinton, about halfway between the community and the Hat Creek junction with Highway 99. The highway was closed between Loon Lake Road and the Pavilion Forest Service Road.
The road is open this morning, but Drive B.C. says there’s a travel advisory in effect from Cache Creek to 4 kilometers south of Clinton. There’s been heavy rain off and on, and the potential for more problams with debris flows on the highway. Be advised that the road could be closed during periods of heavy rain. There is no stopping during the rains on that stretch of highway.
